Associate Professor in Multi Modal Medical Image Analysis (part time - shared position)

DTU Compute at the Technical University of Denmark invites applications for a position as Associate Professor in multi modal medical image analysis

DTU Compute conduct research, teaching, innovation, and research based consultancy within the scientific areas of mathematics, statistics, and computer science

The Associate Professor will be attached to the section for image analysis and computer graphics, one of the departments eleven sections. The department employs approximately 400 persons including presently a faculty of 90.

Responsibilities and tasks
The position in offered as a 20 % employment for a five year period under the shared position programme between DTU and the Capital Region of Denmark. The position is offered under the condition that an agreement for an 80 % employment with Hvidovre Hospital, the Danish Research Centre for Magnetic Resonance (DRCMR) is obtained.

The section for image analysis and computer graphics conduct research, teaching and innovation in mathematical modelling of geometry including deformable models, computer vision, multivariate statistics and computer graphics. Multi modal medical image analysis is a key component in preclinical and diagnostic imaging and the new position will consolidate and expand our research and collaboration in this field with the Danish Research Center for Magnetic Resonance (DRCMR), Hvidovre Hospital.

The associate professor will participate in departmental teaching including teaching courses at the bachelor-, master- and PhD-levels as well as supervision student projects. Bachelor courses are taught in Danish, other courses in English. Other duties include research, research-based consultancy, and innovation as well as changing knowledge with society, including participation in the public debate; research management; guidance and supervision of assistant professors and researchers; academic assessment work.

The associate professor is expected to enter into new research collaboration between faculty members at DTU Compute.
 
Qualifications
Candidates must

  • hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding an Assistant Professorship
  • document didactic/pedagogic training  

Further qualifications: 

  • Have strong interests and academic experience in multimodal medical image analysis using MRI diffusion imaging and pre-clinical MRI.
  • Have a strong academic experience in MRI diffusion imaging and pre-clinical MRI

Assessment
In the assessment of the candidates consideration will be given to

  • experience in teaching and education
  • scientific production and research potential at an international level 
  • the ability to promote and utilize research results
  • an all-round experience basis, preferably including international experience
  • the ability to contribute to development of the department’s internal and external cooperation

For the specific position consideration will also be given to:

  • Documented experience in MRI diffusion imaging, specifically experimental design, implementation and analysis.
  • Documented contributions to medical image analysis.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.

The position is for five years. The position is a part time associate professorship under the shared position programme between DTU and the Capital Region of Denmark. The work place for the offered 20 % employment is DTU Compute.
