Fabrication Manager for the manufacture of offshore substations

Would you like to help us ensure quality, efficiency, execution and continued development of fabrication for our offshore substations?

Join us as soon as possible and become Fabrication Manager in our Substations Engineering & Fabrication Management department where we monitor the manufacturing of offshore substations at the supplier site. We are looking for candidates who are eager to make a difference and contribute to the future wind projects

Substations Engineering & Fabrication Management is part of Wind Power which has 1600 employees and is one of four business units in DONG Energy. Wind Power is the world’s largest developer and operator of offshore wind power, and we use our unique knowledge in all phases of our wind turbine projects. During the last 20 years, we have developed and constructed the largest portfolio of offshore wind farms in Northern Europe.

You may choose freely to be based either at our office in Gentofte in the Greater Copenhagen area or in Skærbæk near Fredericia. However, you should expect approximately 150 travelling days a year, as you will be present at the site 4-5 days a week. An expat agreement could be an option.

Areas of responsibility
As Fabrication Manager, you will be part of large project organisation within offshore substations. You will manage and monitor the structural scope of fabrication of offshore substations performed by the supplier and ensure that the offshore substation meets the project's requirements for quality and deadlines in regards to steel structure and mechanical parts.

Furthermore, your key duties will be to:

  • prepare technical requirements for fabrication contracts
  • establish Quality Activity Schedule (QAS) for the fabrication and report on progress and risk
  • review the contractor's procedures ITP, WPS, PQP, NDE etc
  • facilitate cooperation with third-party certifying agencies to obtain statements of compliance
  • coordinate inspectors and handle non-conformities (NCs) together with the Project Manager

In addition, you will work closely together with the Structural Engineering Manager to ensure cost-effective and fabrication-friendly design during the design phase by giving input to selection of materials, corrosion protection and welding details.

During execution, the Fabrication Manager helps to ensure a safe working environment at our supplier site and will be a role model from a safety perspective. You report directly to the Offshore Project Manager.

Your profile
You have a relevant education as a welding, mechanical or structural engineer, alternatively as a metallurgy engineer, and you have a deep understanding of offshore steel structures. Moreover, you have extensive experience with steel fabrication, inspections and corrosion protection.

Additional qualification as IWI International Welding Inspector, IWS International Welding Specialist, IWT International Welding Technician or IWE International Welding Engineer is preferred, but not a requirement.
