For the Design team within our Equipment Development department based in Brande, Denmark, we are looking for a Mechanical Engineer. The department is involved in all stages of the turbine installation process, and its key role is to ensure the availability of appropriate installation tools as well as transport and lifting equipment. All equipment is developed in close cooperation with other relevant departments.
 
The Equipment Development department is part of Siemens Wind Power’s Onshore organization and currently it employs approx. 70 people at the main location in Brande and the two equipment warehouses in Tinglev and Esbjerg.
 
What are my responsibilities?

  • Developing new transport lifting, and storage equipment
  • Carrying out strength and fatigue analyses of transport lifting, and storage equipment by use of e.g. ANSYS
  • Carrying out strength assessment reports, analytical calculations and reports in Mathcad
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of transport and lifting equipment, i.e. with regards to strength optimizations
  • Adding to the development of new design/calculation procedures
  • Contributing to the development/optimization of fabrication specifications
  • Handling of Engineering Change Notes
  • Attending the Engineering Change Management board
  • Carrying out Design Risk Analyses (DRAs) and design reviews

 
What do I need to qualify for this job?

  • You have a degree in Structural or Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent technical degree, combined with 3-5 years of experience from mechanical or structural engineering, preferably within design of structural steel or mechanical systems
  • You have profound understanding of structural behavior of loaded construction
  • You have experience working with CAE. Experience with ANSYS, Mathcad, NX Unigraphics (version 8) and 3D modeling is considered to be an advantage
  • You are familiar with EUROCODE (EC0, EC1, EC3), and related EN standards. Knowledge of EN 13155 & EN 12195, DNV, GL, and IMO norms will be an advantage
  • As a person, you are independent, result-oriented, and you are a dedicated team player capable of motivating the other members of your team
  • You thrive in a multicultural environment and possess excellent communication and English skills, both orally and in writing
