DTU Nutech, the Radiation Physics Division invites applications for a position as Senior Scientist. The position is available immediately.
The Radiation Physics Division carries out research, innovation and research-based consultancy in the fields of luminescence physics, dosimetry and neutronics, with applications within e.g. geological and archaeological dating, radiation therapy, radiation processing, radiation protection and nuclear emergency preparedness. The division presently consists of approx. 35 people including researchers, technicians and PhD students.

Neutronics research at DTU Nutech aims at contributing to the design, operation and safety of nuclear fission and fusion reactors and neutron spallation sources. Of particular importance is the ongoing collaboration with the European Spallation Source (ESS) which is focused on the neutronics design and optimisation of the facility.

Neutronics research at DTU Nutech provides a knowledge base for providing scientific advice and support for the Danish nuclear emergency management.

Responsibilities and tasks 
We seek an innovative and visionary researcher capable of further developing the field of neutronics. The successful candidate is expected to have a broad background in experimental or theoretical physics, and must have documented experience in methodological development of neutronics modelling and applications to neutronics design. 
The candidate will have a strong record of publication and other professional achievement, a well-established international collaboration network and the ability to attract funding from national and international sources. We host many international student and research visitors, and a record of experience in research supervision is required. 

We have a strong collaboration with ESS, and the successful candidate will be able to further develop our research agenda and actively collaborate with groups from ESS and from other research institutions worldwide.

The appointee will be expected to undertake teaching in radiation physics or related areas at all university levels as well as participate in administrative duties.

Qualifications
The candidate will have a PhD degree in physics and documented research experience in neutronics at the senior scientist level. 
Assessment

In the assessment of the candidates consideration will be given to: 

  • scientific production and research potential at international level 
  • innovative skills and the ability to generate new ideas 
  • the ability to communicate at all levels such as the provision of scientific advice to public sector authorities 
  • experience in teaching and education 
  • the ability to promote and utilize research results
  • an all-round experience basis, preferably including international experience
  • the ability to contribute to development of the department’s internal and external cooperation

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union. 

The place of work is DTU Risø Campus in Roskilde, Denmark.
