Would you like to play a central role in implementing the intellectual property rights strategy in the world's largest offshore wind energy developer and operator?

Join us and become IPR Senior Specialist in R&D, Engineering which is responsible for research within all offshore wind power disciplines. The R&D programme ensures development of new technologies, tools and systems for the main elements of an offshore wind power plant. The projects are often carried out in cooperation with other developers or research institutions. The R&D department is responsible for co-funding schemes and the IPR strategy and IPR support across the company.

R&D is part of Wind Power, which has 1500 employees and is one of four business units in DONG Energy. Wind Power is the world's largest developer and operator of offshore wind power, and we use our unique knowledge in all phases of our wind power projects. During the last 20 years, we have developed and constructed the largest portfolio of offshore wind farms in Northern Europe.

You may choose freely to be based either at our office in Skærbæk near Fredericia or in Gentofte in the Greater Copenhagen area. However, you should expect some travelling in relation to your work.

Areas of responsibility
As IPR Senior Specialist, you are responsible for screening internal opportunities to secure patent applications or publication of new inventions in cooperation with the development project teams. You also conduct the quarterly patent landscaping process and Freedom to Operate analyses through an external patent agent company. You define and conduct internal training to increase understanding of relevant IPR topics and ensure the awareness of trade secrets and the confidentiality policy.

Furthermore, your key duties will be to:

  • ensure that the IPR strategy is known and understood by the entire organisation in Wind Power
  • screen for and select one or more external IPR partners to perform ongoing analysis and tasks to support you and the development of project teams
  • participate in key development projects to ensure proper IPR management
  • perform different IPR analyses
  • develop and mature market and stakeholder understanding within the wind energy industry.

Your profile
You have a master's degree in engineering combined with extensive experience within the IPR area, preferably from a BtB industry if not from the wind energy industry. Your experience could be from a patent agent company as patent attorney or from a large company doing patent applications, monitoring competitors' patent portfolios and analysing workarounds, license agreements etc. You may have experience with actually defining the IPR strategy for a medium or large company. You understand experts from a wide range of engineering disciplines and are able to translate this knowledge into legal and commercial aspects. You like to take the lead, conducts training and support and you work independently across the organisation.

As a person you are outgoing, a good communicator, and networker and you possess strong problem solving and analytical skills. You are very comfortable working in a matrix organisation and strive in an environment with multiple activities in parallel and short deadlines. As we operate in a highly international environment, it is essential that you speak and write English fluently and are good at preparing reports and doing presentations for different managers, engineer and lawyers.
