Fabrication Manager for manufacture of offshore substations for offshore wind turbines

Would you like to help us ensure quality, efficiency and continued development within the wind power area in Denmark and abroad?

Join us as soon as possible and become Fabrication Manager in our Substations Quality & Fabrication Management department. Together with your thirteen colleagues in the department, you will follow-up on the manufacture of offshore substations for our wind farms. The department is also responsible for following up on projects and assisting in the preparation of tender documents and contracts.

Substations Quality & Fabrication Management is part of Wind Power, which has 1400 employees and is one of four business units in DONG Energy. Wind Power is the world’s largest developer and operator of offshore wind power, and we use our unique knowledge in all phases of our wind turbine projects. During the last 20 years, we have developed and constructed the largest portfolio of offshore wind farms in Northern Europe.

You may choose freely to be based either at one of our Danish offices either in Gentofte in the Greater Copenhagen area or in Skærbæk near Fredericia; or alternatively you may be based at our London office in the UK or at our German office in Hamburg on local terms and conditions. You should, however, expect between 150 and 200 days of travelling a year in connection with your work or expatriation.

Areas of responsibility
As Fabrication Manager, you have the overall responsibility for our contact with the manufacturer and internal and external partners. You will ensure that the product meets the project's requirements for quality, price and deadlines.

You will also share the responsibility for carrying out quality assurance and inspections, for ensuring a safe working environment at our construction sites, and for following up on budgets and maintaining a financial overview.

Moreover, you will help ensure the completion of third-party reviews of the delivery regarding, among other things welds and paintwork.

In addition, you will be responsible for finding and implementing quick, usable solutions and making decisions regarding major manufacture or communication problems.

You will report directly to the Offshore Project Manager.

Your profile
You have a relevant education as a mechanical engineer, civil engineer or bachelor of engineering within the areas of offshore, marine, manufacture, construction or machine engineering supplemented with experience in construction management.

It is important that you have broad professional experience combined with the courage to influence development and the ambition to further develop your competences. It is also vital that you have extensive insight into project processes, and we expect you to be used to managing projects from start to finish.

In addition, it is important that you have experience with management of larger execution projects and experience in supervising steel manufacturers.

As we operate in an international environment, it is important that you speak and write English fluently. It will be an advantage if you also have Danish skills.

Since you will be responsible for handling the contact with colleagues, internal and external partners and our contractors, it is important that you are outgoing and excel in working internationally with various partners, but at the same time know how you achieve your goals in a negotiation situation.

You have a responsible approach to your work and an analytical approach to your tasks. In addition, you have a structured, result-oriented approach to your work and are able to deliver great results. You are also flexible and adaptable, enabling you to handle your tasks even in a hectic environment.

We offer
An exciting job in which you have unique opportunities to further develop your professional and personal competences in an internationally oriented business where you help establish some of the world's largest offshore wind farms. You will be part of a dynamic department that is at the forefront of developments within wind energy, and you will have the opportunity to spar professionally with dedicated, experienced colleagues in an informal environment.

In DONG Energy Wind Power, we have a high level of expertise and many complex and challenging work tasks. We work goal-oriented and efficiently with some of the world's largest offshore wind projects, and we are committed to reducing the cost of electricity.
