Vattenfall is Europe’s fifth largest electricity generator and the largest producer of heat. Vattenfall operates in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Benelux and in the UK. Our strategy is to reduce emissions from power generation with a road map to achieve climate neutrality by 2050. Investments in wind power is an important cornerstone to deliver our road map and we plan, build and own wind farms in six countries, onshore and offshore. Investment in biomass fuel is the key to further reduce the emissions.

For our Civil and Structural Engineering Department within Renewables we are looking for a number of Structural Design Engineers, with experience from the wind energy sector preferably within design and optimization of monopiles. You should have strong competences within structural analysis and design ready to take up tasks related to bringing our foundation designs from early feasibility and FEED design into detailed design. Equally you should have an open and innovative mind set bringing our internal standardized design to the next level.

You will be working alongside our other design engineers and in close cooperation with our load and geotechnical specialists.

The department is the solution provider to our projects across northern Europe and supports in all phases from early development to generation and ultimately decommissioning, therefore it is important that your can communicate and cooperate in a multinational context with many stakeholders.

Description of the position

  • Design state of the art foundations for our future offshore wind sites with focus on implementing newest design methodologies and novel ideas to bring down cost of energy.
  • Play a central part of continued development of the Vattenfall’s standardized foundation concept. 
  • Setup design requirements for design task handled by external parties and act as Vattenfall’s technical counterpart for the works.
  • Assess OEM wind turbine site feasibility from a foundation design perspective.
  • Participate and drive R&D initiatives related to structural design.

Qualifications

  • A Master or PhD degree in Engineering or similar.
  • Experience with structural design in accordance with wind industry standards.
  • Experience with FEM and structural analysis.
  • Familiarity with specifics of the offshore wind energy generation.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Good communication skills and master English in speech and writing.

You have a high degree of self motivation with a flexible approach to work. You possess good interpersonal skills and you have an innovative mindset. You enjoy the specialist work and are  result-oriented in your work meeting required deadlines.

As our offshore projects are located various places across northern Europe some travel can be expected.
