Department of Engineering at Aarhus University, Civil and Architectural Engineering Section, seeks an Assistant or Associate Professor in construction management. The applicant is expected to become a central colleague in the construction management research group. The new position is expected to perform construction management related research and teaching.

Focus in the construction management research group is on optimization of construction processes and construction production systems. Our core competencies are within advanced planning and optimization of complex construction processes, through e.g. Lean Construction, Concurrent Engineering in Construction, System Engineering and Risk Management. Furthermore, pro-active system thinking through early engagement in product and process development. A key challenge for the research group is to contribute to the development of energy efficient and sustainable Construction Management.

The ideal candidatecan contribute to the development of the construction management research program with particular focus on optimkization of construction processes. More specifically, the candidate is expected to:

  • Hold a research profile that matches or supplements the core competencies of the construction management research group
  • Strenghten at least one of the core competencies and be able to sucessfully attrackt external funding within the area. 
  • Have experience in teaching in one or more of the mentioned areas. 
  • Actively contribute to the further development of the construction management research group in the effort of become a leading national and international research group
  • Actively contribute to the MSc program in Construction management
  • Actively contribute to the establishment of an externally funded research program within optimization of construction production processes. 
  • Develop and enhance interdisciplinary collaboration within the department, and between the department and relevant national and international research communities

Applicants at the assistant professor level should as a minimum hold a PhD degree and preferable have a couple of years of post-graduate research and publication experience. The successful candidate must show an emerging productive publication record. Participation in international and national networks of researchers is expected.

Applicants at the associate professor level should in addition to a PhD degree have at least 4 - 5 years of post-graduate research and publication experience. Research leadership and ability to define and manage research projects is expected, as is a successful record of external research funding. The successful candidate must show evidence of a productive publication record. Participation in international and national networks of researchers as well as international project applications is expected.

The candidate is required to teach relevant courses in the Engineering educational program, and the candidate is encouraged to establish new, specialized courses in within his or her field at the BSc and/or MSc construction management program.

The Engineering Department, eng.au.dk, was established in 2011 at the faculty of science and technology (ST) at Aarhus University, Denmark to promote and develop Engineering research and education at Aarhus University. The Department undertakes engineering research and education within classical engineering disciplines (Mechanical, IT, Civil and architectural, Chemical and biotechnology) in close collaboration with other departments at ST. Department of Engineering offers a dynamic, interdisciplinary research environment with many national and international collaborators in science and industry.

Formalities and salary range 
Science and Technology refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
