Corrosion Engineer

Then join us and become our new Corrosion Engineer in the Structural Design department within foundations and substructures for offshore wind turbine projects. The department’s tasks cover the total design process for offshore structures within wind energy, from concept studies to final design. Re-evaluations, such as life time assessments or design of improvements, are made for existing structures, when necessary.

Structural Design is part of Wind Power which has 1400 employees and is one of four business units in DONG Energy. Wind Power is the world’s largest developer and operator of offshore wind power, and we use our unique knowledge in all phases of our wind turbine projects. During the last 20 years, we have developed and constructed the largest portfolio of offshore wind farms in Northern Europe.

You may choose freely to be based either at our office in Skærbæk near Fredericia or in Gentofte in the Greater Copenhagen area. You should expect some travelling in relation to your work both between the two offices but also in relation to site visits.

Areas of responsibility
In close cooperation with our corrosion specialist and with our structural engineers, your main responsibility is to improve our knowledge regarding corrosion development as well as the corrosive state of our existing structures. Furthermore, you contribute to design of corrosion protection for new builds, and to improving our corrosion protection solutions.

Furthermore, your key duties will be to: 

• design corrosion protection systems on our new and existing structures placed offshore, mainly in Northern Europe
• design corrosion monitoring and assist in assessing the system performance on our structures
• participate in research and development in the area, thereby increasing the competence level of yourself and the company.

Your profile
You hold a bachelor or master degree in engineering, material physics or other technical education at a similar level which is relevant to corrosion. Some years of experience within steel structures in an offshore environment is an advantage.

Through your degree and your work experience, you understand the physical and chemical details of corrosion and corrosion protection, and you are able to discuss the structural impacts from corrosion with the structural engineers. You work dedicated, produce precise documentation, and you have good communication skills.
