Assistant Professor/Associate Professor in Industrial Automation

Center for Bachelor of Engineering Studies, DTU Diplom, at the Technical University of Denmark invites applications for a position as Assistant Professors / Associate Professors in Industrial Automation in the section for Manufacturing Engineering and Development.

DTU Diplom is located at DTU Ballerup Campus. DTU Diplom offers Bachelor Engineering programs, Foundation Courses and Continuing Education. Teaching is project and problem based and is targeted business and industry. The program has an international focus, preparing engineering students for careers in a globalized world.

The section for Manufacturing Engineering and Development covers the following key areas of competence:

• Manufacturing Technology
• Operations Management
• Supply Chain Management
• Industrial Production and Automation
• Innovation and Entrepreneurship
• Process-based Product Development (HW/SW)
• Quality Assurance (QA)
• Environmental Management

Responsibilities and tasks 
The position includes lecturing as well as supervision of students in the field of industrial automation, inspiring and supporting them for their future career. The educational concept is based on the CDIO (Conceive, Design, Implement, operate) format. Student assignments and projects are carried out in collaboration with business and industry and with research and educational institutions nationally and internationally. The language of teaching is Danish; however certain courses and supervision may be in English.

There will also be tasks relating to the department's development projects such as development of future courses in industrial automation in order to meet the requirements of the industry.

Qualifications
We expect that you hold a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in engineering and either a PhD degree or a background as design engineer with at least 3 years of industrial experience and teaching experience in one or more of the following fields: 

• Manufacturing Technology
• Industrial Automation
• Information Technology in Manufacturing

It is a requirement that the candidate fully understands the relationship between technology, manufacturing and economy in a company. Also, you must be prepared to expand your teaching competencies to meet DTU's future needs.

Furthermore we expect:

• Knowledge, experience and expertise in Manufacturing Technology
• Knowledge of Business Economy, Organization and Project Management
• Good organizational skills and the desire and ability to cooperate
• Desire to take part in development-projects both pedagogically and professionally and willingness to actively contribute to the development of the study program and the profession
• Proficiency in Danish and also in English

You must be dedicated to teaching and supervising, taking care of both Danish and international students. It is an advantage if you have experience and knowledge of pedagogy and didactics. You should also be interested in being active in the development of the curriculum, actively contribute to the professional development of the program, including participation in external development and innovation projects.

• Broad and relevant work experience
• Dedication toward and ability to communicate
• Desire and ability to contribute to the Department's internal and external collaboration

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations and the Career Structure for Bachelor Engineers and Export Engineers. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.

The appointment will be as Assistant Professor unless acquired qualifications are equivalent to the qualifications of Associate Professor. The academic qualifications for Associate Professors correspond to those obtained by holding an Assistant Professorship or equivalent for three years.

The place of work is DTU Diplom in Ballerup. Part-time employment is also possible.
