The Danish Hydrocarbon Research and Technology Centre (Centre for Oil and Gas - DTU), Technical University of Denmark (DTU), invites applicants for a position as Senior Research Scientist in Water Based Enhanced Oil Recovery Methods.

Centre for Oil and Gas - DTU is established by the Danish Underground Consortium and DTU. The centre has received a starting grant of DKK 1 billion for a 10-year period and relies on close interaction between Academia and industry. As part of the National Strategy on Oil and Gas, the research centre is an ambitious, targeted effort to enable increased recovery of oil and gas from the Danish North Sea. The goal will be achieved by cooperation with the industry and other research institutions to further progress knowledge and solutions with application potential, and by contributing to research-based teaching programs.

The Centre is currently in a build-up phase. We are therefore seeking high profile Senior Research Scientists who have the ambition and expertise to contribute to shaping the Centre.

Responsibilities and tasks
The Senior Research Scientist will together with the responsible scientific director define, initiate and conduct research projects in water based methods for enhanced/improved oil recovery methods. The activities will range from incremental improvements of ongoing water injection to radically new methods and concepts.

The Senior Research Scientist must engage in a close coordination with the other Senior Research Scientists in the enhanced oil recovery (EOR) area of the centre. Furthermore it is expected that the candidate will pursue research projects with a line-of-sight to application by engaging with external parties and with colleagues across the Centre.

The position also involves daily supervision of work within the centre at DTU and the coordination of activities undertaken by the research partners. The Senior Research Scientist should supervise PhD students, Postdocs, and technical personnel.

Qualifications
Candidates should have a PhD degree or equivalent as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding a position as Researcher or Postdoc.

Candidates should have a strong background within oil recovery research with proven scientific excellence within simulation, models, and/or experimental techniques. The candidate must be familiar with the combination of experimental, theoretical, and simulation activities. The position requires that the Senior Research Scientist masters to collaborate in a multi-disciplinary research centre. Experience with collaboration between academic research environments and industry is desirable.

Assessment
In the assessment of the candidates consideration will be given to:

  • scientific production and research potential at international level
  • innovative skills and the ability to generate new ideas
  • the ability to communicate at all levels such as the provision of scientific advice to public sector authorities
  • the ability to promote and utilize research results
  • an all-round experience basis, including international experience
  • the ability to contribute to development of the centre’s internal and external cooperation

For the specific position consideration will also be given to:

  • experience from academia/industry collaboration
  • research project management
