Global project purchaser

Our client is a large thoroughly consolidated multinational company with several production facilities in e.g. Denmark, Germany, Poland, Hungary and China. To play a part in changing the focus and strategy for the organization, and with a base in the eastern part of Jutland, we are looking for two new:

Global project purchaser
Make or buy - outsourcing - direct procurement

The role
Reporting to the Purchase manager you will be responsible for managing and participating in projects with a focus on make or buy issues. There will be a focus on direct materials, and the conclusions in the projects will decide whether to outsource or keep the production within the company. The size of the projects can vary in size but is strategic important for the organization. In the process you will act as a bridge between the outsourcing partner and the internal organization.

Job description
Your focus is to lead and ensure the success of these important projects, and you are responsible for the whole process from defining the project to analysing, making recommendations and finally securing production implementation with the external manufacturing partner. You will develop project plans, road maps and define the case together with the source of the project. The task can come from several sources within the organisation and you will work closely together with the category management team, production and product Development.

Further tasks are to:

Define the project together with the source and identify needs which require outsourcing
Establish the project team which depends on the size of the project, and act as a member of the project team or as project manager
Define project objectives
Make the market analysis and identify potential outsourcing partners which can be either new or known to the organization
Work closely together with internal controllers/production assessing the business case
Collect offers from external manufacturing partners
Align activities between the internal organization and the external manufacturing partners – primarily within Europe
Coordinate activities and schedules in regards to the project
Meetings with internal stakeholders such as quality, supply chain, category managers and purchasers
Define product specifications and order product samples from the list of potential suppliers
Be a part of the project and outsourcing the production to the chosen manufacturing partner
Administering contracts outlining the obligations, responsibilities and performance goals

Desired Skills and Experience
You have some experience with procurement, working in larger international organisations for 5-10 years. You have experience with outsourcing projects sourced from external partners and defining objectives and processes in technical projects. You have solid experience in working as a project manager and know the tools and challenges. You have fulfilled similar roles as a Project Purchaser, Strategic Purchaser, Project Manager, Category manager or Sourcing Manager and are now ready to add value to a comparable role.

You have a commercial or technical background ideally combined with a relevant a master degree or equivalent. You communicate fluently in both written and oral English.

You have an analytical, structured and business-oriented approach with a focus on empathy and a sense of propriety. You are a strong communicator, both persuading and seeking influence, and you know how to work in a large international organisation with sensitive projects. We expect your working style to be organised, and you have an eye for details combined with common sense and the ability to build strong and lasting relations across business units. You must expect 30-50 days of travel per year.
