Description

Engineering Solutions, Tower, Loads & Control, Loads, Acoustics & Control (LAC).
The LAC team is part of Vestas Technology & Service Solutions and is accountable for the structural loads, the production controller and the power performance for Vestas current and future wind turbine offerings. LAC is furthermore responsible for product performance in relation to noise, vibration, environmental loads, electro-magnetic compatibility and lightning protection. We are currently looking for a manager for our Tools & Technology department. 
 
The Tools & Technology department is accountable for tools and technology development within the areas of loads, power performance and controls. The team develops new solutions for wind turbine control with the aim of improving Cost of Energy through reduction of structural loads and improvement of power performance. The team is also accountable for our simulation capabilities for loads, power performance and control development. The primary simulation tool is the so-called Vestas Turbine Simulator (VTS) which simulates the overall aero-structural response of a wind turbine and is a key element in the wind turbine design process at Vestas.
 
VTS has more than 70 users across the Vestas organization. Our tools are being applied for multiple purposes including technology development, product development as well as sales support. Improvements of efficiency, flexibility, accuracy, and robustness and user friendliness are therefore central to our business.
 
Responsibilities:
The Tools & Technology manager has the strategic and operational responsibility for the department.  The manager will work closely with our senior specialists in defining and executing the technical strategy for the department.  The responsibilities include daily planning, execution and follow-up in a global context, people development, stakeholder management inside and outside Vestas, budget responsibility, organizational development as well as process and efficiency improvement initiatives.
 
The Tools & Technology team includes 5 Specialists and 5 Lead Engineers located in Aarhus. The team rely on support from colleagues in a sister department in Chennai, India and the manager is also responsible for the daily planning and follow-up of these resources.
 
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate has/is:

  • A proven track record including leadership experience from a larger technology organization
  • Engineering background (civil-, mechanical- or controls engineering)
  • Passionate about engineering and technology- and simulation tools development

  • Self-motivated and the ability to motivate others
  • Result- and business-oriented, translates technical innovations into business opportunities
  • Develops employees through coaching and target setting
  • Good English skills - oral and written

Additional information:
Work location will be at Vestas Technology & Service Solutions Headquarters in Aarhus, Denmark. Approx. 15 days traveling days per year shall be expected.
