Would you like to join a large international company and work in detail on wind farm projects in the billion dollar range together with highly professional colleagues?
Join us and become Grid Connection Development Engineer in Grid Analysis. We are 15 committed colleagues responsible for developing and implementing wind projects, focusing on grid connection issues both in-house and with external partners. You will also be part of a group of more than 300 engineers, working with more than 10 large-scale offshore wind projects in the United Kingdom, Germany and Denmark.
Grid Analysis is part of Wind Power, which has 1400 employees and is one of four business units in DONG Energy. Wind Power is the world’s largest developer and operator of offshore wind power, and we use our unique knowledge in all phases of our wind turbine projects. During the last 20 years, we have developed and constructed the largest portfolio of offshore wind farms in Northern Europe.
You may choose freely to be based either at our office in Skærbæk near Fredericia or in Gentofte in the Greater Copenhagen area. However, you should expect some travelling to the United Kingdom and Germany in relation to your work.
Areas of responsibility
As Grid Connection Development Engineer, your primary task is to design the electrical part of the wind farms and ensure grid compliance. Moreover, you participate in relevant project meetings and cooperate with other team members on shared issues. You also ensure that management is informed about risks and problems and communicate with transmission system operators and distribution network operators.
Additionally, you handle other aspects in connection with the projects, eg cost estimates, and support environmental impact assessments and prepare grid connection solutions. You also prepare project gate documents.
Furthermore, your key duties will be to:
- design the overall electrical system from onshore to the wind turbine generator
- perform grid compliance studies on the wind farms, such as power flow, voltage control, dynamic analysis, fault ride through and harmonic studies
- involve internal and external specialists.
Your profile
You have a bachelor degree in electrical engineering or similar or preferably a master of science in electrical engineering. Maybe you have a few years of experience within the field, or you have dealt with this field in your studies. Thus, you have a good understanding of the design process for electrical systems and simulation tools like PowerFactory. It is essential that you have an understanding of electrical design of wind farms as well as knowledge of wind turbines and their control, such as transformers and cables. You also speak and write English fluently.
As a person, you have excellent communication skills enabling you to convey complex issues in a simple and yet precise manner as well as present results in a professional way. Finally, you have a results-oriented and analytical approach to your work and enjoy working both independently and together with your colleagues and business partners.
We offer
A unique and challenging job in a large, multi-cultural organisation where you will have the opportunity to influence where the company is going. You will be joining a dynamic organisation with competent and committed colleagues who value knowledge sharing and initiatives.
Through your work, you participate in the implementation of an ambitious strategy for international growth and further development of sustainable CO2-free energy solutions. As you are part of implementing the large international offshore projects, you get to learn in depth from colleagues who have been in the industry since the beginning and work on the offshore wind farms from scratch.
In DONG Energy Wind Power, we have a high level of expertise and many complex and challenging work tasks. We work goal-oriented and efficiently with some of the world's largest offshore wind projects, and we are committed to reducing the cost of electricity.
