Development Engineer for the Chemical Lab in our Development Department

Are you a curious engineer or chemist with 0-5 years of experience? Would you like to deliver solid analyses and use your analytical and creative skills when trying to solve a problem as well as be part of projects that further develop our products?

Join the ROCKWOOL Group and 15 colleagues in the Laboratory which is part of our Development Department.

Deliver consultancy service based on your findings
You will be responsible for carrying out chemical analyses and delivering consultancy based on the conclusion of your analyses. Your conclusions will be part of projects and you are able to influence which projects you partake in. As we mainly work with developing our products and materials, projects vary in size (from 3-10 participants) and complexity. To a smaller extent you will be involved in customer complaints where you will analyse the mineral wool.

In terms of analyses, you will be responsible for:
Planning, executing and reporting relevant investigations on raw materials (rock and secondary), melts and mineral wool to determine its chemical and physical properties etc. using:

  • Chemical composition / X-RAY fluorescence spectrometer
  • Mineral wool fibre diameter distribution / Environment Scanning Electron Microscope (ESEM)
  • Semi-quantitative chemical analysis / Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDX)
  • Collapse temperature studies using a specialized furnace set-up
  • Dissolution rate of the fibres / Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS)
  • Thermo gravimetric analysis / Simultaneous Thermal Analysis (STA)
  • Ensure reporting of the chemical composition of our production lines
  • Keeping equipment calibrated according to certified standards

Curious and creative Geologist/Engineer/Chemist

  • You have a degree in geology, chemical engineering or chemistry
  • You have 0-5 years of lab experience
  • You are used to being part of project groups and know how to deliver input to projects
  • You speak English and are ideally familiar with various database programmes

As a person, you like to work independently at the same time as you enjoy being part of projects that help shape our future products. When it comes to interacting with colleagues in projects and clients in the lab, you are extrovert and easy-going. Finally, you are very analytical at the same time as you enjoy being creative when trying to find the right way to analyse a piece of material.
