Are you an experienced reservoir engineer looking for an exciting and challenging career opportunity? The you might be the senior reservoir engineer we are looking to recruit for our Subsurface Department in Denmark.

DONG E&P, a subsidiary of DONG Energy, conducts upstream operations in oil and gas. We operate and participate in a wide range of offshore exploration and production activities in Denmark, the Faroe Islands, Greenland, Norway and the United Kingdom (mainly West of Shetlands). The DONG E&P Business Unit has experienced significant growth in recent years and is facing exciting new challenges across our expanding portfolio of exploration, development and producing assets.

The DK Subsurface Department is responsible for subsurface evaluations within E&P Denmark. Work includes evaluation of new business opportunities, nearfield exploration, appraisal planning, field development planning, unitisations and production operations. Work is generally undertaken in integrated, multi-disciplinary teams organised by asset / licenses.

The focus across the asset teams are on functional excellence, and people and competency development, with key drivers being:

  • Synergies/collaboration between teams
  • Knowledge sharing, new technologies and best practices
  • Resource optimisation
  • Training, developing and motivating specialists

Areas of responsibility
Your will be required to contribute to and organise reservoir engineering evaluations, and supervise other reservoir engineering staff in collaboration with discipline supervisors and team leaders. You will deliver detailed reservoir engineering input for development planning and optimisation of fields from discoveries to mature producing assets.

Your main tasks will include:

  • Dynamic reservoir simulation using Eclipse (E100) or Compositional (E300) as applicable, based on available data, including rock properties, SCALdata, PVT data, pressure data, well tests, and production data. Specifically the dynamic reservoir simulation work may include:
     - building of sector and full field models
     - detailed history matching – using well test data and/or production data
     - prediction of production profiles and provision of uncertainty analysis for various scenarios
     - detailed evaluation of sensitivities using experimental design studies
     - evaluation of optimal well counts and placement for efficient resource recovery
     - individual well performance prediction
  • Reservoir engineering evaluations other than dynamic modelling, including:
     - PVT modelling
     - material balance calculations
     - studies near wellbore effects
     - wellbore/lift curve modelling
     - Well test design and analysis
     - Input to completion design
  • Input to generation of development scenarios leveraging the potential production and evacuation technologies available
  • Prepare input to reservoir management plans
  • Closely collaborate with all team members and interact with G&G in building static models
  • Establish reserves estimates
  • Monitor and analyse well performance of new and existing wells
  • Identify new reservoir potential or in-fill locations to optimize production
  • Follow drilling and completion day to day operations
  • Actively participate in knowledge sharing in the organisation
  • Provide input and evaluate well proposals

Your Profile
You hold an academic degree - preferably at Master’s level or higher - in a relevant Engineering discipline. You have 5-12 years of relevant working experience and can be considered as an expert regarding hands-on experience in reservoir simulation, i.e. recent in-depth experience of reservoir simulation including history matching, preferably directly related to field development activities for an operator.

Furthermore you have:

  • In-depth understanding of fundamental reservoir engineering principles, e.g. actual experience with fluid (PVT) analysis, well test analysis, SCAL work , and rock physics
  • Considerable experience with development planning of both green-field and brown-field - the latter with matching of historic production and pressure data
  • Hands-on experience with the use of probabilistic and/or statistical methods for production forecasting and uncertainty quantification
  • 5+ years’ experience with working in fully integrated multi-disciplinary teams, i.e. working independently within own discipline but with a shared responsibility for the end result
  • Experience with formal stage gate processes for maturation of opportunities
  • Experience with discipline quality assurance processes, including formal gate reviews and involvement of corporate QA departments
  • Experience with reserves reporting under SPE guidelines

You have good analytical and communication skills and a fluent command of the English language.

We offer
We offer an exciting and challenging role in a large company with growing activities and challenges. We have ambitious growth plans and you will be an important player in this set up. You will enjoy a modern working environment where your development and progression are key factors. We are a highly motivated group with significant levels of activity that offers open communication with other professionals across the department. We stress the importance of a healthy work/life balance with attractive salary packages to match your experience and skills.
