Local Unit & Position Description
DNV GL is the leading technical advisor to the global oil and gas industry. The company provides consistent, integrated services within technical and marine assurance and advisory, risk management and offshore classification, to enable safe, reliable and enhanced performance in projects and operations. DNV GL Oil & Gas Denmark’s section Facilities is based in Esbjerg and serves Oil & Gas companies/operators, contractors and manufacturers with independent 3rd party verification services mainly related to fixed offshore installations, hereunder process safety of topside facilities.
 
The Facilities section is looking for a colleague with a strong profile to a position as Process Engineer / Surveyor to support our expanding services provided to the Oil and Gas industry in Denmark and internationally.
 
The main focus for the section is related to activities in the Danish sector of the North Sea. Our key customers comprise Maersk Oil, DONG, Hess and various supply and service companies. The section also undertakes verification activities outside the above, frequently in cooperation with other units in DNV GL.
 
Major Duties
You will be participating in and/or managing multi-discipline projects with a focus on team work and close interaction with our clients. The position will include a large variety of projects and offers great opportunity for personal and professional development.
 
The position will include several work tasks incl.:

  • Design approval (new installations and repair/modification/replacement projects of existing facilities)
  • Participation in HAZID, HAZOP etc.
  • Reappraisal for recertification
  • Annual surveys
  • Survey at vendors incl. participation in FAT
  • Periodical offshore surveys
  • Participation in keeping the section updated with necessary knowledge and competence
  • Project management of own minor to medium projects and performance of other project related work

We are looking for candidates that demonstrate an ambition to be “best service provider” delivering verification with high technical competence.
 
We depend on everyone to cooperate, take independent decisions and deliver the agreed tasks with high quality.
 
Position Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate with an engineering degree (e.g. M.Sc./B.Sc. in mechanical, process/ chemical or oil & gas engineering), who is able to document experience within the below areas (alternatively highly motivated for personal development within these areas):

  • Topside facilities, general safety layout
  • Risk assessment incl. knowledge on overall safety aspects and evaluations, e.g. Fire & Explosion Strategies (FES) and Evacuation, Escape and Rescue Strategy (EERS)
  • Process and utility systems/equipment safety
  • Emergency shutdown systems (ESD/PSD/F&G)
  • Blowdown and relief systems
  • Fire fighting systems
  • Pressurized equipment and rotating equipment
  • Project management
  • Used to work with Danish legislation (e.g. executive orders under the Danish Offshore Safety Act), national and international standards and European directives, e.g. DS/EN, ISO, API, NORSOK, PED etc.

  • Be self-motivated and result oriented
  • Be a strong team player with the ability to be proactive, meet deadlines and set and adjust priorities
  • Be able to combine analytical / theoretical knowledge and practical skills
  • Be flexible with respect to change between various type of tasks and projects
  • Be able to work under pressure from interested parties and manage several on-going tasks and projects

  • Have an ability to see the overall picture, cooperate across borders and share knowledge
  • Have a positive attitude and a good sense of humour
  • Contribute to our office culture
  • Willingness to travel onshore and offshore, in Denmark as well as abroad, sometimes on short notice
  • Willingness to participate in knowledge-sharing programmes in other DNV units
  • Are fluent in English - the Global language of DNV GL, and preferably also in Danish
