Project Manager - Operation & Maintenance

Do you have a technical background with a thorough knowledge of biomass power plants as well as experience in operation and maintenance of power plants? Would you thrive in a dynamic work environment in which you would be given great responsibility when running one or more Operation and Maintenance projects from our headquarters based in Allerød? Then you could be the ideal candidate for this vacant position.

Burmeister & Wain Scandinavian Contractor (BWSC) is a world-leading turnkey contractor and operator of medium and large scale diesel-, biomass- and biogas power plants. We are currently constructing or operating power plants in, amongst others the UK, Lebanon, Kenya and Sri Lanka.

In recent years, we have experienced a considerable growth in the sale of new long-term O&M contracts especially within the biomass area in the UK. Consequently, we are looking for a new business-oriented Project Manager for our Operation & Maintenance Department to start as soon as possible.

The position
As Project Manager in the Operation & Maintenance Department you will be responsible for one or more O&M projects.
 
With reference to the General Manager for the O&M department to undertake the following: 

  • Ensure that contracted O&M Agreements are complied with to the full satisfaction of the customer and in accordance with signed contracts and fixed budgets
  • Be the daily coordinator of the technical, as well as administrative and financial tasks in connection with the projects
  • Act as first point of contact in BWSC Allerød for our organisation on site
  • Mobilise and lead the staff - in Allerød as well as on site - necessary to implement the project
  • Create good relationships and communication with the customer and cooperation partners
  • Assist with technical troubleshooting and optimisation of the operation of the power plant
  • Prepare strategy plans for your own areas - and subsequently implement these
  • Prepare budgets for your own projects and subsequently meet these
  • Analyse financial and technical initiatives
  • Visit site and provide assistance to the site team and participate in meetings with client, partners etc. when necessary.

Qualifications

  • Preferably marine engineer, mechanical engineer or equivalent technical background with a thorough knowledge of biomass power plants and/or other boiler/turbine plants and experience from the power business in general
  • Experience in operation and maintenance of power plants
  • Mastery of spoken and written English on a high level
  • Systematic and committed with the ability to focus in a dynamic and often hectic environment
  • Self-starter, energetic and goal oriented
  • Flair for and experience in reading and understanding complex contracts
  • Ability to transfer contents of contracts into practice
  • Experience in budgeting and basic financial principles
  • Experience in working with public and environmental authorities

You should expect to travel up to 30-50 days a year.
