Join us and become Geotechnical Engineer for large offshore wind projects. You will be part of the Geotechnical Engineering department where you will work with a wide range of geotechnical activities related to the planning, development, design and construction of offshore wind farms.

The department is part of Wind Power, which has 1400 employees and is one of five business units in DONG Energy. Wind Power is the world’s largest developer and operator of offshore wind power, and we use our unique knowledge in all phases of our wind turbine projects. For the last 20 years, we have developed and constructed the largest portfolio of offshore wind farms in Northern Europe.

You may choose freely to be based either at one of our Danish offices in either Gentofte in the Greater Copenhagen area or in Skærbæk near Fredericia or alternatively at our London office near Victoria in the United Kingdom on local terms and conditions. You should, however, expect some travelling in Denmark and Northern Europe in relation to your work.

Areas of responsibility
As our Geotechnical Engineer, your main mission will be to provide high-quality geotechnical support to our offshore wind projects.

You will be involved in scoping the geotechnical strategy for our projects as well as providing technical support to the site investigations and laboratory testing. Following site investigations, you establish geotechnical databases and assist in preparing a geological model.

Further, you assist in geotechnical site assessment used as input for detailed design for wind turbine foundations, substation jackets and cable routes. Another part of your responsibilities will be to prepare detailed engineering reports and memos documenting geotechnical analyses and recommendations.

In close collaboration with the geotechnical team, you also perform the geotechnical design of our offshore wind turbine foundations, just as you facilitate cooperation with third-party certifying agencies to ensure compliance on the geological design.

Furthermore, your key duties will include to:

  • prepare geotechnical design profiles
  • perform or provide input for pile driveability and leg penetration analyses
  • plan and assess instrumentation programmes to monitor soil-structure performance
  • evaluate and benchmark performance of various foundation concepts
  • engage in industry leading research and technology development projects.

Your profile
You hold a master's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering or equivalent. Experience with the computer programs MATLAB, GINT or GRLWEAP is an advantage.

You thrive in an international environment, working with colleagues at different levels and with various nationalities and cultural backgrounds. Thus, it is essential that you have excellent communication skills and speak and write English fluently.

It is important that you are motivated by creating excellent results through teamwork and can apply your strong analytical skills to perform geotechnical engineering. Finally, you show initiative and easily collaborate with colleagues and business partners.

We offer
The opportunity to work with offshore wind projects which comprise multiple disciplines and are far from being standard projects. You will be part of a large engineering group of more than 300 engineers, responsible for the detailed engineering of over 10 large-scale offshore wind farms in Denmark, the United Kingdom, Germany and France.

Accordingly, you will have excellent opportunities to influence your daily work, develop new competences and pursue a career in a large international organisation.

In DONG Energy Wind Power, we have a high level of expertise and many complex and challenging work tasks. We work professionally and efficiently with some of the world's largest offshore wind projects, and we are committed to reducing the cost of electricity.
