Our Process Management Department in Roskilde is looking for a new Production Chemist. 

In a situation where our site in Roskilde is upgrading all major equipment and processes to meet the projected market demand, you will be expected to play a key role in this exciting transformation. 

Chr. Hansen is a leading global manufacturer of clinically documented probiotics (such as BB-12®, LA-5® and LGG®) for the dietary supplement, infant formula and pharmaceutical industries. When administered in adequate amounts, probiotics confer health benefits. 

The Process Management Department is a part of the Cultures & Enzymes Production in Denmark. We are supporting the production departments and have in-depth knowledge of fermentation, freeze-drying of the probiotics meeting specific industry requirement. 

We have extensive process and clean room understanding and provides day-to-day support, troubleshooting and process optimization. These activities are in compliance with pharma cGMP standards and HACCP, and we provide validation support to the production departments. 
We participate in transfer of new products from development to production, and in between production sites. In addition, we prepare and review documentation such as production recipes, batch journals, change request forms and follow up on deviations a.o. on OOS, production related issues and bulk product release. 

Your tasks

  • You support, troubleshoot and optimize the processes in the Fermentation Department and the Freeze-drying Department with focus on the equipment
  • Along with this, you will prepare the relevant documentation such as functional descriptions, deviation forms and change request forms in compliance with cGMP
  • You make use of historical process data from different IT-systems for problem-solving and optimization, and you will have access to small scale test equipment
  • You play a significant role in implementing new equipment handed over from Global Engineering, and you will be collaborating with the global production sites in France, USA and Germany

Your personal profile

  • You could be an experienced Production Chemist from the pharmaceutical or food industry, but also newly qualified could be of interest
  • You hold a MSc or a similar degree in engineering, Life or Food Sciences
  • You have been educated in - or have a combined practical and academic working experience in relation to - fermentation, preferably lactic acid bacteria, and fermentation equipment
  • For downstream processes, we would like you to have insight in processes like centrifugation and freeze-drying
  • Knowledge in Process Analytical Technologies (PAT) and multivariate data analysis could be of interest
  • You have excellent English and IT skills
  • You work independently with an analytical mindset and you are self-motivating and goal-oriented
